EYnovation™ Bootcamp: Get investor ready!

Coming up with a good idea is hard, though convincing investors to invest in your idea is even harder. As a startup, your future is determined by the strength and attractiveness of your pitch! But how to tell an impressive and powerful story that invites to action?

EYnovation™ invited several experts who are eager to share with you some hands-on advice and tips & tricks to successfully close a fundraising. 

A three-day bootcamp

On Monday August 5, startups with an investor-readiness mentality are invited at the new EY Wavespace in Antwerp for the Bootcamp: Get investor ready! This day you'll get to know the VC landscape, the VCs mindset and recognize the impact of biases on the screening decision. Afterwards, a hands-on workshop on pitching techniques will help you to finetune yours. 

On Friday August 9, we'll perform a detailed analysis of the contents of the term sheet, the document most commonly used to support the negotiation phase. In the afternoon, we"ll assist you in building your own financial plan and detailed cash flow projections using EY's Finance Navigator. In this way, you'll be ready to assess your funding need in the future. 

The last day, Monday 19th, we'll listen to succesful entrepreneurs and their experience with a VC on board. Afterwards, each of you has the chance to pitch your elevated startup idea to a panel of business experts and VC investors. Finally, to close the bootcamp, you'll get the opportunity to lunch with VC's and get connected!

• 09:00 am – 12:00 pm: Raising VC funding - The investor's perspective by Frank Maene, Managing Partner at Volta Ventures

• 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm: Lunch

• 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Workshop on pitching techniques incl. pitching your startup by Bruno Wattenbergh, Senior Advisor at EY & Academic Director at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management

• 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Workshop on "How to put a Valuation on your Company" by Stijn De Nijs, Associate Partner Valuation, Modelling & Economics 

• 2:30 pm - 05:00 pm: Hands-on Workshop on "Determining your Funding Need and Valuation" by Lars Verijken, Co-founder Finance Navigator

Day 3 - Monday August 19

• 09:00 am – 10:30 am: Workshop on "Preparing for a VC Due Dilligence" by EY Law & Transaction Advisory Services

• 10:30 am - 12:00 pm: Testimonial on "Life with a VC on board" - Vincent Joquet, CFO Sentiance - raised >€25 million Series C 

• 12:00 pm - 01:00 pm: Lunch

• 01:00 pm - 03:00 pm: Final pitches in front of a mixed jury with investors to other successfull (ex-)entrepreneurs

• 03:00 pm - 05:00 pm: Networking
